This RoPax, however, will operate under a 10-year charter with France’s Brittany Ferries. StenaRoRo has options to build two further vessels with AVIC. This vessel, together with a further vessel in the E-Flexer series ordered last winter, will supplement Brittany Ferries’ fleet operating between Portsmouth in the UK and Bilbao and Santander in Spain.

The E-Flexer RoPax ferries are designed to carry flexible rolling cargo such as trucks and trailers as well as passengers. The ferries are 238 metres long, and have a capacity of around 1,200 people (passengers and crew), 3,600 lane metres plus 200 cars on special car decks.
Stena RoRo has placed an order for a further newbuild and signed a 10-year KfW IPEX-Bank and the Swedish-based international shipping company Stena have signed a loan agreement of USD 180 million to finance two new E-Flexer RoPax ferries. The ships, which are designed to carry flexible “rolling” (Ro) cargo such as trucks and trailers, as well as passengers (Pax), are among nine new vessels ordered by Stena from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai). The existing order for eight new RoPax vessels from the CMI Jinling Weihai yard in China was increased with a further order for a Stena E-Flexer.
